This course has three levels Certificate (1st Year), Diploma (2nd Year)
Entry requirements
Passed at least five Grade 10 subjects with 18 points including English at Grade E or better. Biology and Maths are an added advantage.

- Implement and maintain a legal and ethical framework for counselling services

- Implement and maintain an effective counselling services environment
- Apply principles, approaches and procedures to demonstrate care as a counsellor
- Conduct community counselling in a structured environment
- Engage in counselling with people on HIV and AIDS
- Work in a culturally diverse counselling services team
- Use business communication devices and computer skills as part of counselling services
- Participate in workplace communication in English and prepare workplace documents in a counselling services work environment

Diploma in Counselling
Semester 1
- Assess, implement and maintain a safe counselling services and training environment
- Maintain and enhance professional practice as a counselling services provider
- Collect, analyse and present workplace data and information in a counselling services environment
- Engage in counselling in situations of generic and specific need
- Engage in counselling with couples
- Engage in counselling with families
- Engage in counselling with groups
